Rev. Dr. Katina Sharp
Rev. Dr. Sharp is a graduate of Dubuque Theological Seminary. She is the author of Put Your Hands Up and the doctoral dissertation He, She, They, Ze: How Pronoun Usage Impacts the Ministry of the Church.
In addition to pastoring at Powell, she runs an interfaith youth program called Seeds of Abraham which seeks to promote peace and understanding among the youth of Knoxville and the surrounding areas. She is also a co-chair of Pride Interfaith Knox, a coalition of religious leaders who advocate for equality and create safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ people in the Greater Knoxville area. She has a passion for social justice and believes that the Church’s calling is to be a source of refuge and relief for those society scorns.
Prior to entering professional ministry, Rev. Dr. Sharp enjoyed a career as a mental health and substance abuse counselor.
She has four talented and handsome sons: Jackson, Ethan (who prefers to be called Ei), Aaron, and Nolan.
Katina is a self-proclaimed book junkie and loves reading, particularly non-fiction works by modern theologians. She loves cruising and traveling with her partner Whitney, gardening, and cuddling her two dogs Shostakovich and Rosemary Jane.
