Serve

Jesus told us to love God and love neighbor. At PPC, we show our love for God and neighbor by serving our community and our world. No matter what your skills are, we have a way to use them at PPC!

Blackberry Festival

We are excited to host the first annual Blackberry Festival and 5K this summer! All proceeds will benefit our mission programs, so come enjoy good food and lots of fun–all for a great cause!

Family Promise of Knoxville

Once a quarter, we host families experiencing homelessness in our building. For a full week each time, we provide shelter, food, and fellowship while families in the program receive assistance with employment, budgeting, transportation, and securing affordable housing.

Hunger Ministry

Drive by our front yard, and you will see a large wooden cabinet we call our Blessing Box. Inside we stock food and hygiene items, free for anyone who needs them. We stock the box at least once a day (often many times a day), and the neighborhood also helps us to keep it full! Take what you need, and leave what you can!

Birthing Kits

Did you know that Haiti has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world? This is partially due to the lack of prenatal care available for expectant mothers. We are hoping to change that statistic! Once a year we collect the necessary items for midwife birthing kits, pack them into handy packages, and send them to Haiti to help a new mother have a healthier birth.

Bridge Refugee Services

Scripture tells us to welcome the immigrant, and we take that command seriously. We partner with Bridge Refugee Services to bring refugees into the Knoxville area, find them housing and employment, help them learn English and American customs, and get them well-established in their new homes. We have had so much success helping refugee families from the Democratic Republic of Congo that we started a worship service entirely in Swahili (Sundays, 1:30).

Mission Trips

Over the years, PPC has taken many mission trips all over the world. Most recently, we went to McAllen, TX to work in an asylum center on the Mexico border. We spent our week serving meals, assisting in the clinic, “shopping” in the donation closet for clothes and shoes, and playing with children. It was an eye-opening experience for us, and we have a better understanding of the trials that immigrant families face after our visit.

Angel Tree

Every Christmas we host an Angel Tree for families enrolled in Family Promise of Knoxville or Bridge Refugee Services. It is a joy to shop for children we do not know!

Central Plateau Scholarship Fund

PPC has long been a sponsor of the Central Plateau Scholarship Program, which offers financial assistance to students in Haiti. Education is the cure to poverty, and we are helping improve the lives of Haitian citizens, one student at a time!

Utility and Medical Debt Assistance

We partner with Powell Christian Community Concerns to help our neighbors when they cannot pay their utility bills or medical debts. This one-time financial grant helps during unexpected crises and emergencies.
